Adventures in Spain

Plaza Mayor, where we add an odd early lunch of beans and Spanish ham with a little wine while waiting for our laundry.  We'd only packed 3-4 days worth of clothing and had to have our laundry done a few times.  In one case we had to kill a few hours doing it ourselves.

After relaxing a bit and watching people going by with and without their dogs we headed off in the general direction of the park, stopping by the royal palace on the way.

I'm not lost. I'm right here!

Arabic craftsmen evidently enjoyed creating pavements of small stones that form patterns.  We saw similar walkways many times, especially in southern regions.

In front of the royal palace was a building holding an exhibit dedicated to the Virgin.  We didn't go in but the display was pretty.

On the way to the park we stopped a few times to take some shots.

Right after we entered the park we found a vendor selling drinks and this fountain.

Susan's going for a swim!  (not)

Retiro Park, where it was a tad chilly for row boating but fine for people watching.  Some of the hippies didn't appreciate the latter much.

While sitting next to the water we watched ducks, little beggar-birds and people go by.  The little sparrow very clearly wants MORE!

Once across the water we sat under the statue and people-watched some more.

Kitty-kitty found the perfect lap -- in the sun and it never disappears to fetch a cup of coffee.
