Alright, I've been yelled at by a few people for not updating my blog but it's St. Patrick's season (bet you didn't know it's a season and not just a day) so Susan I have been overly busy with dancing and I haven't been a good blog citizen.
So, what's been going on?
NTIF for one. On March 4th we started off by dancing a show with the Emerald school, which we do every year with others in the school and followed that by attending a workshop run by Catherine Bishop (Sherer for those of you who hadn't heard that Chuck finally made her an honest woman, sort of). Susan and I ran a set workshop later in the day and then called the three hour NTIF ceili. On the 5th we only had to dance with the Emerald School one more time so it was a lighter day.
The following weekend we called the monthly SCMA ceili at the Move Studio. It was great fun and we called several old favorites and Susan taught a new set dance figure.
We went out with other people at the Emerald School and danced a few more times for the season. There was a private party just before NTIF where we nearly died on a floor that was like ice. We also danced at Idle Rich on the 17th and Slider and Blues on the 19th (while wondering how we were going to get home through the flood waters).
Business has picked up a bit on the holography side. Not regular but I've had some orders for custom holograms which is defraying some of the costs (ok, very very little) of this expensive hobby. My average is two orders a month and I hope the number will keep increasing. I'm working on a project on the side that I hope will kick that number up much higher.
I've been enjoying driving my Mini who is male and has been named Moonshine, to go with Susan's 2000 New Beetle that is female and named Sunshine. The name also conjures up images of bottles filled with very strong alcohol which fits with a car that always wants to go as fast as possible (to get away from the revenooers of course).
Unfortunately I had to take Moonshine into the shop on Friday because of a buzzing noise that would start at about 3500 RPM. It was coming from the rear end and sounded like someone was sticking some metal into a high-speed fan. As it turns out, there was a bad weld on the exhaust system brace and they had to keep him all weekend. That really sucked. I was given a Dodge Stratus which is a decent car, if you don't like having fun while driving. I am going through some serious Mini withdrawal. I should be getting the Mini back late today though so maybe the shakes will subside by tonight.
