Include a link, you doofus! Why don't reviewers include links to the products they're reviewing? This negative trend has been getting worse and worse. The review that triggered this post was of a review of Microsoft Streets & Trips over at Pencomputing.com. Not once does the author provide a link to the product home page or any place to buy the product. The latter isn't such a big deal but not providing the former just adds a burden on your readers. Are you doing reviews to aid your readers or is it just for ego? They aren't the only ones that do this. Reviews all over the web fail to provide product links. Why?! Rome Reborn
Researchers at the Institute for Advanced Technology in the Humanities at the University of Virginia have created a full 3D computer model of what Rome might have looked like in 320 AD.
Another cool detail is that my employer, Multigen-Paradigm was a sponsor. Continue reading "Rome Reborn"Thursday, June 14. 2007Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) Defined tags for this entry: musings

Disable the right-click button?Over at jkOnTheRun they linked to a presentation from Microsoft on best practices for using a tablet. Most of the tips are logical and good for new users to know, but one doesn't make sense to me. It's their second tip. Here's a screen clipping:
Say what? I'd recommend the opposite. Use the right-button functionality as much as possible. That's what context menus are for. I've also not found that it slows down Text entry. Is that a Vista bug? Tuesday, June 12. 2007Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) Last modified on 2007-06-12 21:59 Defined tags for this entry: musings
Fujitsu T4215 updateI've been using the machine at home, at work, in and out of meetings, at coffee shops and while wandering Cartagena Colombia. How do I feel about the T4215 a month later? Windows live writer hates tabletsWhy would Microsoft put out a new tool that can't be used with the tablet PC TIP? Windows Live Writer apparently uses custom edit controls that don't work with the TIP. WHY? The tail end of the wedding in CartagenaAs it turns out, if Susan and I had stayed until the end of the reception we'd have been there until about 5pm. We had to get on a boat for Majagua at 8am so we would have been majorly tired, but wheee! Cartagena Art 2Maybe "art" is too strong for this stuff but so what? This one was of some trees on Isla del Rosario. Done with Art Rage 2 on a Fujitsu T4215. Wednesday, June 6. 2007Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) Last modified on 2007-06-19 22:11 Defined tags for this entry: Arty Stuff, musings
Cartagena Art 1Here's a picture done by a young boy in Cartagena with my tablet PC. While I was having lunch in a cafe near the hotel he came over to see what I was doing and since my food had just arrived I turned the tablet toward him and handed him the stylus. He didn't Know any English and my Spanish is horrible but I managed to show him how to use art Rage and off he went.
