If I were to order a laser pointer from a catalog or web site, what site should I go to, and when I get there, which sould I buy?

I think that the best laser pointer that's been tested for holography is the Infiniter 200 (keychain laser). You can find it at www.dicountlaser.com, it retails for about $15.00 (plus S&H). I was wondering how to rig up a power supply for my laser pointer (infiniter 200) so that it wouldn't have any changes in its voltage or current, thus keeping the beam steady. If anyone has any suggestions they'd be much appreciated, thanks! 12.75.129.200

I have to vote for the infiniter200 as well. 207.16.159.168

Quarton has a few 200 Infiniter models. You want the #151-650200-AAB1. This is the specific one I and Frank work with. Voice mail is 1-210-520-8430. 7042 Alamo Downs Parkway, suite 370, San Antonio, TX 78238. Please ask for Karen. 209.122.220.254

In order to increase the contrast of the picture, doesn't the laser light have to be polarised? Are laser pointers polarized? 146.230.128.29

That was always what I read or was told, Charles. Supposedly you can make a hologram with a randomly polarized laser, but the fringe contrast can not be anywhere as great as with a polarized laser. As for laser pointers, everyone I've worked with is polarized. 216.164.130.83

Does anyone know if you can take off the collimating optic for the Infiniter 200? What about hooking it up to a power supply? I don't want to fry the diode trying. Thanks. e_kelsic@hotmail.com 216.160.138.113

Does anyone know of any laser pointers which stay steady in a shaking hand? 143.167.1.3

What is the minimum distance you should have between the Lazer and the Film??? 64.165.151.7

Enough to cover the film and object with even illumination and no more. The exact distance depends on your laser and lens. 64.167.148.203

Do lasers or laser pointers for that matter come in different colors? I 129.120.206.150
