I haven't tried this yet, but you might want to walk into an optics shop in the mall (where they grind eyeglasses) and ask if you can have their rejects.
I have no idea how often it happens, but they've GOTTA have lenses that are useless for their customers that would be okay for us geeks. 207.13.31.68

You might consider Combining some of the lenses used over camera viewfinders, to correct defective eyesight. These are freely available form camera shops in a wide range of optical 'powers', both convex & concave. 212.159.71.193

i the past i have used lens from just about anything that had them checkout
flea markets for old cameras and nonfunctional video cams oh old polaroid
also have a very nice trapizoid mirror thats front surface they work great
the double concave lenes from old video cams work great and some have cube prisms and beam spliters too i got 8 useable lens from one cam thanx all happy hunting 216.76.219.181
