Hi, Has anyone read about the holographic video MIT is working on? does anyone know how the fringe pattren is transfered to the laser to be modulated? Thanx!

I read somewhere that they used an acustical modulator combined with a rotating mirror assembly. The "video" was not recorded, just generated by a computer. 195.70.188.204

Yeah, i actually work in the same lab as the Holovideo, right next to it in fact...its different from what it seems...its almost competely computer generated, output through an array, thrown through a collumnating lens and projected onto a glass plate. Its impressive to see it work, but its very limited right now. Still, i'm not allowed to touch the floater it sits on, so the inner workings are still a mystery to me...i can say though that the holovideo isn't really any different than a simple hologram, just no film to expose, and a whole lot more math to get right... 18.206.0.22

This whole Mit design seems too complicating to me. At place I work (POC) we have a 3d imaging system using two projectors which project left and right views onto the holographic screen. The hologram is recorded so it lets only one beam from the corresponding projector to one eye while blocking another thus creating stereo pair with in a viewing zone of about 80 deg now. The screen itself is 20x15". We have both vertical and horizontal systems. For the horizontal system images has to be predestorted so the viewer sees right perspective. And a new project we've got will deal with fast scanning and creating a multiple zonez each with its own view. Whoever is willing to help me with some ideas or just information in 3d stereo imaging please e-mail me at kk24600@hotmail.com\
and it can be mutually benefitial.

Well as all you look down these dead ends for realtime holographic video my company Imtech.inc is blazzing the way of using the mirage effect and simple LCD video screens. The image projects upward out of dish and can be seen at a 45 degree viewieng angle any where around the projectro. Its fairly simple and i really dont see why MIT is moving into trying to use frame defraction and lazers to creat a holographic moving picture. I would like to talk to anyone interested and there are still some problems with the design but it already works fine creating a true color moving picture hologram. caliban61@hotmail.com 209.8.252.162

Bernabo-Michel.D, What is a LAZER?????!!! 216.46.36.105

A lazer is a beam of higly energized light that is confined to only one spectrum usually red light and thus carrires very prsies amounts of energy. Therre are lazer cutters and teloscopes and so forth. 209.8.252.11

I'm looking into investing in a company that's working on hologrphic video and eventually live holographic broadcasts. Using this technology to broadcast will probably start like radio and television, with broadcasts of sporting events. Who in their right mind would want to watch a live televised sporting event when the could watch a live holographic sporting event? fgallenstein@cinci.rr.com 65.27.239.152

I would be very interested to learn of more up to date advances and general information pertaining to the progress of holovideo as a medium.

Hi there. This seems like a goo dplace to ask this question.
A few years ago, I was at a very large outdoor event. Various technologies are showcased at this event, including very powerful green lazers. On one of the nights, as I was walking, I noticed, much to my sheer jaw-dropped amazement, that one of the lazers was actually projecting 3D holographic images into the sky. HUGE ones. The projections were all pretty much different shades of green, but they were clearly very large 3D projections. I can't seem to find any info on this now. Does anyone know where I can find more info? Thanks!
