50 mWatt it works. Expose time about 3 second. developed in pyro, filmmaterial redstar. I bought my diode (650 nanometer 50 mW) by HB-laserkomponenten in germany (www.hb-laser.com) it's a module, totalcost about 250 dollars. Ok the hologram is not the best i ever made but it works. tirex@wanadoo.nl (www.holography.nl) In the near future i place some pictures on my website.

Have you set up an interferometer yet? What is the coherence length? 63.193.192.125

Hello Colin,
Yes I have set up a interfero test, but I don't have test the
coherence length. I have placed some pictures on my website
(www.holography.nl)
It takes time to download my site ( many pictures )
The shadow of the motorcycle is about 25 cm deep.
The diode is not ultrastable, I think mode hoping, every six seconds
the fringes move a little bit, or a other kind of movement (tremor)
But it is unbelievable, I have a spectra physic 125B ( 50 mWatt) laser
but the difference between the laserdiode hologram and the HeNe hologram
is not much. The advantage of the diode is the depth of the hologram.
The firm where I purchase the diode sell also a 300 mWatt diode.
I am think to buy one.

The diode type is LDM 650/40, modulable.
It's including collimation optics and driver ( module )

The motorcycle looks great! I have been to your site many times. Nice work. I have heard the 650 nm diodes are more prone to mode hop than 660 nm. Since you are getting greater depth my guess is it is a longer coherence length than your HeNe. 64.170.192.8

Hello Colin,
Yes I think the coherence length is more then the HeNe.
This week I try to make a shot with maximum coherence length.

I follow your experiments with the diode with great interest Kris, I will get one if your test are giving good results. Still, the 650nm is a bit too red for my taste. Preswelling with TEA is not my favourite task. Wonder if a powerful 630nm will be soon be available? I look forward to get rid of all the work with keeping the HeNe alive. Keep up tyhe good work! 213.236.155.35

I forgot something to tell, I used a spatial filter to make the hologram.
I made today a hologram with a depht of 25cm, the schadow of the object
is visible at a distance about 60 cm.
The holograms are not the best I made but you can see the object en the
shadow.
All holograms are single beam. 194.134.193.16

Kris, does your laser have a round or elliptical beam? Do you have any experience using a spatial filter on a elliptical beam? What size pin hole would I pick? One that fits the major axis or the minor axis?
Thank you. 64.167.149.150
Kris Meerlo - Fri, Jun 15, 01 04:06:07 AM
Hello Colin
It's no problem with the spatial filter,I use a 20*0.40 objective
and a 25 micron pinhole to get a clean eliptical beam.
