LiNbO3 is a good choice. I have not used crystals for a storage medium but acording to Hariharan you can store a large number of images on a single crystal. You might try to find: Burke, W. J., Staebler, D. L., Phillips, W & Alphonse, G. A. (1978). Volume phase holographic storage in ferroelectric crystals, Optical Engineering. 17, Pg. 308-316 Or: Glass, I (1978). The photorefractive effect. Optical engineering, 17 pg. 470-479 There are many other crystals that will store a hologram. Its simple just buy two mirrors that are convexed put a hole on the side of one mirror and another hole on the top of the other have the hole on the top facing up and the hole on the side facing down when light hits the side of the side hole the light will project out of the hole on the top you can place items inside the middle of it and that item will know be projected out of the top hole so it looks like its floating on air. 205.188.208.104

hello everyone, a simple way to create a hologram with a laser pointer, is to first secure your pointer down so it does not move, then point it twards your first mirror, angle the mirror so that the light will bounce from one to the other, accross from each other. like this: ___________________ ------------------- then stick your crystal at the end of the lights trail, you will need to test it before you make your first image, then just stick whatever you wanna make into a hologram between the two mirrors, the mirrors will bounce the light off the object from both front and back, when the light gets to the crystal, the crystal will natraly split the light into diffrent bands, and create the illution of a hologram inside the crystal, wait about 1 hour, for the image to be burn into the crystal. Make sure to use brand new batteries in your laser pointer, or it will run out before the burn is done. if you have any other questions, email me at: birkoff@quik.com 216.239.162.53
