I've been trying to contact Frank for a week to order one of his power supplies, but I have not been able to get ahold of him. After reading some of the earlier posts about problems getting the units from Frank I'm beginning to wonder if I should be looking elsewhere. What is the latest news on D&S? Has anyone recently placed an order that got fulfilled? And, can anyone recommend an alternate source which works as well as the D&S unit? Thanks

If you read those posts You will notice I was a frequent poster. Frank has made some changes to his business to allow him to ship kits more quickly. My kit sat on his counter for a month waiting to go to the post office. Contact him via e-mail and expect to wait a few weeks for a reply. I like my kit. It performs as advertised. Expect to wait a couple of months to get it all together. If you are in more of a hurry try a 5mw pointer or the 5mw diode from integraf. I am also very happy with my MDL 27mw laser although it has features I don't need and is twice as expensive as Frank's. Hmm... it sounds like I shouldn't order the unit from D&S since I need it within a month or so. I noticed that some other people had earlier recommended the Power Technology PMP(658-35B)G3 which I also see that Frank used as his 35mw laser on his Laser Pointer Holography page. When I contacted Power Technology, they told me that the diode module was $330 and the LDCU5 5v power supply was another $175. That's pretty pricey, so I wanted to double check with you guys and see if you still recommend that laser. I'd prefer the stand-alone driver from D&S, but I can't wait 6 months to get it :( Thanks! 64.132.32.110

Hello Lewis. Look at my homepage for a laserdiode. www.holography.nl The power is about 40mWatt. The polarization is less then franks diode i think 1:100 The price about 250 dollars. 194.134.193.16

I am not sure if blueeyedpop ever got his worked out. I have a MDL-BRK-660-35 from laser max. I am very happy with it. It was in stock but difficult to obtain. I had to sign a waiver saying I was using it to build a prototype and not using it on a optical bench so I did not have to buy a key box. It is my understanding they have replaced this part number with a laser with a smaller outside dia. but the same electronics and diode. My power supply is batteries and I built a heatsink so as not to void the warranty. It should be noted that the beam shape and profile is dificult to work with in laser diodes. One poster described it as a fuzzy rectangle. 64.167.148.92

Colin- I'm curious to see the heatsink that you built for your LaserMax unit. Do you by chance happen to have a digital camera that you could use to take a photo for me? If so, my email is info@pangeasoft.net Thanks! 64.132.32.110

Lewis, I don't have a picture but I have a CAD drawing. If you would like a copy let me know what formats you can read. Here is a verbal description: The heat sink I made was a 1.5" x 1.5" x 5/8" aluminum block with a hole drilled into it the dia of the laser head. I then band sawed a slot into the hole and installed a pinch bolt. On the side away from the pinch bolt I made 4 slots .060" deep and .023" wide. Using thermal epoxy I glued in 4 1.5" x 1.5" fins made from .023" aluminum sheet metal. I used a silver based thermal epoxy. I think it was $20 for .1 oz. 64.167.148.15

HI Frank, Im not sure if you visit these posts, i hope you do. I am very anxious to get some shots off before i go back to school. I was wondering if you recieved my e-mails and if you had the optics for the diode. I still have all of the components. Would it be possible to send the pieces back to you, so that I would have a working unit faster? I would greatly appreciate this. Thank You. rayramirez@hotmail.com 209.179.146.20

I appologize to everyone about the triple post, my computer did not show the post as being recorded. Again, i appologize 209.179.146.20

Hi Ray. I have the collimating lens and will send it out to you on Monday the 20th. After that, I'll be on the road for another week. Lewis, Sam has reached retirement age and I am taking over as sole proprietor of D&S. I'm working on streamlining for more efficiency, and will be operating under this new capacity by October 1st. Hi frank, It's been a month or so since the expected recieval of the collomating optics. I am very anxious to get started on my next project, however, this diode, which ive had a little over a year now, still isnt operational. Would it be possible to recieve a working unit? i still have all of the components from the one you sent me. Thank you, Ray 209.179.147.161

Hi, Can someone please tell me where can I find a good web page about Laser Drivers. I have to design one... Thanx, Max 167.4.1.38

Frank's power supply is very nice. But if your are determined to make your own try starting at: http://cord.org/cm/leot/course04_mod06/mod04_06.htm 64.167.148.240

Hello Fellow holographers I would like to know if Mr. DeFreitas is realy shipping his units out in a more timely fassion for I sent him some money a little over a week ago, and I am working under a deadline. I have already made arrangements and I nead it as soon as possible, and all of these entries are making me very nervous. I have faith in Mr. DeFreitas but you have to understand that after seeing so many adverse comments it is enough to make anyone nervous. If you have any info or if you see this Mr. DeFreitas please hurry back, I am under the gun. Thank you 207.32.33.81

Dustin Dooley - Thu, Nov 15, 01 04:45:10 PM

I am happy to say that Mr. DeFreitas has made the changes. I received my kit in less than three weeks. Do not fear the DeFreitas. 198.206.243.1
