Hello, I just received the pyrogallol to make pyrochrome, and it says it has to be handle in a nitrogen medium, that it reacts with oxigen and that it is very poissonous. How does everyone handles it? I know that after mixing sol. A with B it lasts 20 min. But how long does sol A. and B last by thier own? How much of this should I prepare? Does the pyrogallol that you use come as a pouder? Im very anxious to try this developer since I have been using Dektol with fair results, but I still have a lot of doubts. I hope it will improve a lot my holograms. -Thanx, Mariana

I have not used pyrogallol but I do often have to work under a "nitrogen blanket". Small cartriges are available for a one use situation for $1 or $2. Or for about $150 you can get a small nitrogen bottle and regulator. A company I consult for stocks both. e-mail me if you need the source. colinsk@pacbell.net 64.170.194.3

I do not think a nitrogen blanket is needed - I have used Pyro for many years with very god results. However, please use rubber GLOVES when mixing the pyro soloution. Also, do not forget to use a DUST MASK when pouring the the dust- like pyro. I am also using GOGGELS. The A and B soloution last a long time when you keep it in airtight containers. Worry for your health, not for the soloution itself since it is more robust than you may think. vhegdal@techsoft.no 213.236.155.35
