After testing the pfg03 film with the new JD-4 developer I found that it does indeed sensitize the film to the point that it is more sesitive than the pfg01. For a direct compairison I used 4X5 plates with the D&S laser. I exposed the pfg01 for 4 seconds and got a wonderful hologram. I then used the 4X5 pfg03 plates and exposed for 5 seconds wich resulted in overexposure! I then reduced my time to about 3 and a 1/2 seconds and got a wonderful hologram with the pfg03!!! With the same object the pfg03 with the JD-4 developer was actualy more sensitive than the pfg01 with JD-2 developer!!!!!!!!!! The difference in quality is unbeleivable Dr. Jeong could be right. This could make pfg01 film obsolete.

Dooley, what bleach formulation did you use in each case? How did the storage times, and storage temperature, compare between the two types of plate you used? Also, if you don't mind my asking, how is your D&S laser mounted (i.e. heat sink of some sort?) Thanks. 209.90.161.35

Tom, What is the indicator for over-exposure? Is it the same as JD-2 where you can tell by the final color? Or is TEA required to change colors. Have you tried a transmission hologram yet? 64.170.195.85

I wasn't exactly that scientific about my experimentation laser reflections is doing a more scientific study if I have been informed correctly. As for the bleach I used the bleaches that come standard with the JD-2 and the JD-4. Both batches are about the same age and were simply stored in a cold basement corner. Not the best situation but better than in the heat. My D&S laser is just mounted in the recomended barrel, nothing fancy, with a car battery to power it. As for overexposure it looks as if you just get a very dim image, or no image with the jd-4. TEA is required to change the color, and no I havn't tried a transmission hologram, just reflection. 207.32.33.92
