1) The registration deadline has been removed since there won't be enough people staying in hotel to justify reserving a block of rooms in order to get a group rate. If you haven't already, please register so I know you're coming. Keep in mind that if you wait too long, you may need to make a hotel reservation.
2) If you'd like to volunteer for a talk and haven't already done so, please do. I'll be working up the schedule over the next few days.
3) If you're coming, please take a look at the saturday query in the forum. I need to decide how much of Saturday will be filled with PCG talks.
We'll be there, if only because it's marked on The Calender and anything marked on The Calender is sacrosanct! As for talking, it depends on who'll be there. If it's yourself, Colin and us, it'll be reaaly informal and we can just "shoot the sh**" about holography in the local pub! This, by the way, is subtle hint for the fence-sitters.
Come on! Commit! You can do this! You can be at the forefront of the what may be the equivalent of SPIE for Hobbyists! One day, you're grandkids will say with awe on their faces, "You were at the first ever PCG meeting! What was it like, granddad?"

Well, Sonny, back then we only had monochromatic lasers and we had to either use silver halide film or make our own DCG. A blue laser was the size of a large dog and used many amps of power.
There was a lot of excitement that it was the beginning of making holography into a main stream art form and we all knew that there were going to be major changes in the technology coming very quickly but truthfully we were just obsessed with the idea that it really worked. We spent hours creating a single image. And when we would show it to our friends they would say "Wow, that is neat what is it for?"
The meeting was fun, we spent the first night getting to know each other in a local pub. Everyone was very friendly except Colin had a few too many beers and went home with a local bar maid. The next day was talked about holography and actually made some holograms together.
When we were leaving we noticed that we all had a new respect for each other and had learned a lot of new ideas to apply to our work. But more importantly we felt like we had the beginnings of a community and that we had made new friends who would be lifelong contacts in the field of holography.
D/FW is the larger of the two but you should also check out flights through Love as they might be cheaper.
Is eveyone meeting the evening of the 16th or the morning of the 17th? Is eveyone returning on the evening of the 18th?
Both very good questions. I wish I knew. Dinesh has expressed a desire to arrive Friday to avoid the inevitable rush that a Sat morning arrival would entail but I don't know how definite that is. I haven't received any details from the other two that are flying in.

Well, if this is something to tell my grandchildren about let's think a second.
May I suggest a name for the meeting that is different from the group.
The name of the meeting could be something like
"The International Assembly for Holography"
or something of the sort. It can be organized and run by the PCG.
This would allow the "PCG" to remain an independent entity. Thinking in the future and how the assembly may grow, it may be worth considering.
I held out till now to see if I can come and join you, but alas it's not possible. Well done for getting this off the ground, and my heart is with you. Hopefully this will become a regular informal event and I can come to the next one.
Incidentally, I think the Porcelain Cat Group is a great name. It's different, off the hip, and unpretentious.
Best of luck to all. Please take lots of photos for a report in the Holographer.

Perhaps next time then.

maybe there are enough people in your neck of the woods that you could host the next one?

I agree.

Definitely. Lots of stills and video.
