2003/05/05 - Monday

• 10:39 am: out
• 10:53 am: cong abbey

• 12:23 pm: going for a walk in cong forest. very pretty & smells nice & piney

• 12:45 pm: Hungry Monk, buena vista social club, internet
• 3:18 pm: ashford castle. It looks like tourists aren't exactly welcome here as there are no signs to the place and at one entrance there are signs saying "residents only". The footprint book said that you could have dinner there (for $100 per person) but with no entrances marked, how does one know where to go? Call ahead and get instructions when making a reservation perhaps?
• 4:10 pm: o'conners pub, ballinrobe, snooker match on telly
• 4:45 pm: off again
• 5:26 pm: ballintubber abbey
750yrs old in '66

• 6:47 pm: Barriscurra abbey

• 8:00 pm: got lost for a bit but we're back in partry at the Village Inn. I asked about food & the lady behind the bar said they don't do "food", only sandwiches.
• 8:19 pm: Yang's chinese rest in Ballinrobe. sizzling chicken with black bean sauce & kung pau chicken w cashews. good chinese tea. After dinner we went in search of an ATM without results and then somehow got slightly lost on the way back to Ballykine house. We'd both swear that someone added a kilometer or two between the quarry headquarters and the b&b entrance since this morning.
• 10:31 pm: back in room. Our nice clean warm room with enough room to swing our arms and not hit a wall or each other.
