6:36 am frogs & more frogs. Hard small bed.
The frogs were still going strong at 6:30am.
7:12 am almost ready to enter the world.
9:43 am on the beach, snorkeling,

Waiting to take people out on the water is the banana (a long raft to the left that you sit on and get dragged around the water) and Capt Moses glass bottom boat. We went out on and met Capt Moses and his son Dwayne the next day. Two people we'll definitely miss but hope to keep in contact with.
10:10 am waiting for bus to cliffs
1:01 pm waiting for lunch, been a nice morning of snorkeling. Saw one small jellyfish
& got chased by two more.
Lots of urchins on the reef, along with bright blue fish, crabs and creatures that look like the trilobite things we saw in Ireland. Also saw a leathery blond like we saw on the cruise. Someone who should spend less time in the sun.
I was swimming next to the reef when I saw a couple of jellyfish and took a
picture (which I'll post once we scan in the pictures from the underwater
camera). I then realized that the currents were driving the jellyfish in
my direction and rapidly swam away (which was difficult to do since I didn't
have fins).
Spent some time just sunning & reading. This is nice & relaxing.
The bar on the cliffs is full of Germans, some who have obviously been here for a few days & some who are a bit nervous seeming.
There are a few bold enough to go topless but most are not.
Saw a nude cruise go by a little while ago, which caused a bit of a local stir. Sorry, no pictures.
We're having lunch of pineapple pizza.
There was one tourist that looked almost frightened and if one of us had said
"boo," she probably would have come unglued.
3:42 pm lazy nap & rain squall, did some yoga & sat in the rain. Now we're reading.

Ahhhhhh, floating in the ocean!

That's the cliff "castle" in Negril. It's a funny thing that we thought about staying in but decided we wanted to be on the beach.

I'm on the left, apparently holding up a tent :-)

Susan, about to leap off the cliffs. Actually, neither of us tried that but I suspect we could have done so safely (except perhaps for the jellyfish).

Yes, Samsara was definitely deserted the day we were there. July is "low season" and most places were not at all full. I think Legends was an exception because of their low prices for an all-inclusive stay (all meals and drinks, yes drinks!, paid for as part of the daily bill) but even though that deal was shared with Samsara, most people wanted the beach.
8:13 pm back in the room. Saw & played with some starfish, little crabs & silver & yellow fish.
That was before we got back to the room, not after. :-) Once we got
back to Legends we immediately headed back out to the beach and played.
8:21 pm zombies?
Fairly strong drinks that are a specialty of
Legends.
9:14 pm bats, stars & frogs.
We found a frog in our room (see him below). After a day, I found that I was used to the "gleep"ing of the frogs
and their
rhythm helped me to get to sleep.
I've found a sound file of the frogs chirping FrogSound
(263K) from www.hear.org. To really get the effect you need to turn the volume on your
speakers all the way up.
Susan was very adept at bat-spotting
that night during dinner. She even said she thought she could hear their
chirping. (I did!)
I couldn't see nearly as many stars as I'd hoped (the beach is well lit at
night) but I could see many more than at home. It was very pretty.
