Adventures in Belize

Pelican Beach - Southwater Caye
May 29, 2004

Today was our last full day before we had to head back and we filled it as best we could with lounging, snorkeling and rum punches.

During the day we saw a number of starfish, including two that looked like they were made of leather. We had some fun playing with them and these two had a knack for turning themselves over quickly.

Susan had a knack for finding wildlife on the sea floor and picked up several conch shells and found other creatures lurking about the coral. Later in the day we came across a yummy looking lobster who obviously knew what we were thinking. As soon as Michael touched his fin to to the lobster's antennae he flipped his tail underneath his body and shot off away from us like a rocket. We also ran across an eel and a couple of stingray, one that was eating something in the weeds near the edge of the reef.

For our last night we were lucky enough to move into the Herons Hideaway. The breeze blowing through the cabin was lovely and the sound of the waves underneath was soothing.

Ahh, what a beach.
